At Chat Pen, your privacy is our top priority. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the steps we take to keep it safe. By using Chat Pen, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

a) Information You Provide

  • Account details: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from the authentication provider. We do not receive or store your password.
  • Text prompts:When you type a message, your prompt is sent directly to the selected AI model provider's API to generate a response. We do not store your prompts on our servers beyond what is needed to display them in your chat history (web only).
  • Images:When you upload images for vision understanding, they are sent to the AI model provider's API for analysis. Images are not stored on our servers beyond the chat history display (web only).
  • PDF files:When you upload PDF files for document understanding, they are sent to the AI model provider's API for analysis. PDFs are not stored on our servers beyond the chat history display (web only).
  • Voice recordings:When you use the speech-to-text feature, your voice is transcribed into text and sent to the AI model provider's API. Voice recordings are processed for transcription only and are not stored long-term.

b) Information Collected Automatically

  • Chat content (web only): When you use Chat Pen on the web, your conversations are stored securely in our cloud database so you can access them from any browser. Only you can see your data — it is encrypted and tied to your authenticated account.
  • Chat content (mobile only): When you use Chat Pen on iOS, your conversations are stored locally on your device. They are never uploaded to our servers.
  • Device information: We may collect basic device data (OS version, device model) for compatibility and troubleshooting purposes.
  • Usage data: We collect anonymized usage statistics (e.g., feature usage frequency) to improve the app experience. This data is not linked to your identity.

c) Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect your passwords.
  • We do not access your contacts, photos, location, or any other device data beyond what is listed above.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account.
  • To sync your subscription across all your devices.
  • To store and retrieve your web conversations from our cloud database.
  • To communicate with you about your account or service.
  • To improve our app through anonymized usage analytics.

3. Third-Party Services

Chat Pen uses state-of-the-art AI models (such as GPT, Claude, Gemini, DeepSeek, Grok, Qwen, Kimi, MiniMax, and others) to generate responses. When you send a message:

  • Your request is sent directly to the AI model provider's API.
  • The provider processes your request and returns a response.
  • Each provider has its own privacy policy and terms of service governing how they handle your data. We encourage you to review their policies.
  • We do not store your prompts or responses on our servers beyond what is needed to display them in your chat history (web only).

Authentication Providers

  • Sign in with Apple:Governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • Sign in with Google:Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Payment Processing

All payments and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your full payment details. Apple's own privacy practices apply to payment data.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share your personal data with third parties except:

  • AI model providers:Your prompts, images, PDF files, and voice transcriptions are sent to the selected AI model's API to generate responses. Each provider handles data per their own privacy policy.
  • Apple: Subscription and payment data is processed by Apple. We only receive a receipt confirming your subscription status.
  • Authentication providers: Apple or Google provide your basic account info (name, email) when you sign in.
  • Legal requirements: If required by law, we may disclose data to comply with legal obligations.

5. Data Storage & Security

  • Mobile app: All chat data is stored locally on your device. It is never uploaded to our servers. You control this data at all times.
  • Web app: Chat data is stored in our encrypted cloud database. Only you can access your data through your authenticated account. We enforce strict access controls and encryption at rest and in transit.

While we take every reasonable measure to protect your data, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

  • Account data: We retain your account information (name, email) as long as your account is active.
  • Web chat data: Stored until you delete it or close your account.
  • Mobile chat data: Stored on your device until you delete it from the app or uninstall the app.
  • Usage analytics: Anonymized and retained for up to 12 months.

7. Your Rights & Choices

  • Delete your data: You can delete individual chats at any time from within the app. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us at riponsoum992@gmail.com.
  • Revoke consent: You can stop using the app at any time. On mobile, you can delete the app to remove all locally stored data. On web, you can delete your account via your account settings or by contacting us.
  • Manage subscriptions: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions).
  • Request a copy of your data: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you by contacting riponsoum992@gmail.com.

8. Children's Privacy

Chat Pen is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. Contact us at riponsoum992@gmail.com if you believe this has happened.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. Your continued use of Chat Pen after any changes means you accept the updated policy.
